Cringiest modern phenomenon: an adult human with a hard-earned reputation prevaricating before a Senate confirmation committee about the outcome of the 2020 election. I'd almost prefer a genuinely gullible person whose mind honestly can't make contact with reality than the obsequious make-believe.

Been reading The Satanic Verses. The prose is v turgid and manic but in a way that’s totally distinct from the great postmodernists. Feels much more one-track in its approach. Great stuff I’m eager to check out more Rushdie afterwards
