People look at me crazy when I said COVID to me was actually a time of hope; politics were getting more radical, we were de-atomizing and creating new communities. As a general misanthrope I had more hope for humanity than I ever had; then we decided again that profits are more important than lives.

Corporate traders should recognize this as sanitized โ€œinsider trading,โ€ whatever euphemism is used. Voters should recognize this as an abuse of the Oval Office, a violation of the Constitutionโ€™s โ€œemolumentsโ€ clause, and, more broadly, part of the Trump self-enrichment use of the White House.

I do experience a certain amount of dissonance simultaneously trying to hold "Manchester is not the north" and "People vote, not land".
Like, I do hate feeling like an afterthought but at the same time I am pretty sure everyone living there is in the northernmost half of the population of the UK.
