I suspect that if Pope Leo were to do something as radical as to excommunicate Vance and the Catholics in Trump's cabinet, that WOULD precipitate a schism. Not even Vance could shrug *that* off without a reaction.

Thus, Leo will NOT excommunicate the lot. And so Vance and company can still jawbone.
